If skin cancer
diagnosed, one of several treatments may be
required, based on the type, size and
location of the cancer. The main objective of
the treatment is to completely remove or
destroy all the cancer cells.
For early
stages skin cancer, cryosurgery may be used.
This procedures involves using liquid
nitrogen or another extremely cold material
to freeze and destroy the cancer.
Electrosurgery
is another treatment for early cancers which
involve numbing the area, scraping out the
affected skin, then applying a special
electrical current to destroy any remaining
cancer cells.
Surgery, the
actual cutting out of the cancer and
repairing with stiches, is used for larger
lesions or more advanced conditions.
Sometimes special reconstructive surgery may
be necessary to minimize scarring.
